Art Educator/Leader

My approach

I am a New York based art educator and leader with over 25 years experience in creating and implementing innovative programs, classes, events, and collaborations. I foster creative thinking and teach a range of art media to diverse populations.

About Me

A Brief Biography

I hold a BS in Fine Art from SUNY New Paltz with a concentration in ceramics and art education and am professionally trained on best practices for teaching art to children on the autism spectrum.

Throughout my career in the arts, I have focused on creating and implementing arts programs, events and collaborations, working with organizations including the Museum of Arts and Design, Urban Glass, Federation Employment and Guidance Service (FEGS), The Creative Center for People with Cancer, Elder Craftsmen and Independence Care System (ICS).  I directed a historically relevant NYC based art school for adults called the Craft Students League for over 6 years while managing  the Elsa Mott Ives Gallery at the former YWCA in midtown Manhattan.

Currently, I am a  teaching artist in New York City’s public schools.  I have the privilege of teaching in district 75 and general education classrooms.  I provide  professional development to fellow art educators on methods and best practices to implement when providing lessons to students on the autism spectrum. In addition, I design and teach Intergenerational art programs and a variety of art classes to adults with physical disabilities. I am on the teaching rosters for Marquis Studios and Life Time Aging.

For Adults Of All Abilities
And Mixed Generations

Classes for adults

Classes for adults are designed to encourage thought, creativity, the exchange of ideas, promote discussions, and lead to the production of meaningful artwork.

For Children Of All Abilities

Classes for Children

Classes for children are designed to inspire personal choices and allow children to get comfortable with exploring an array of art media. Learning techniques and new skills are both an inherent and deliberate part of a guided art making process. I try to bring lots of visuals to the table so that they might see, touch, experience and become inspired by artifacts, pictures, natural and found objects, etc. They are encouraged to build on their own perspectives and unique ways that they experience the world.
